Born in Fukuoka, Japan 1977.

When Keiji Takeuchi was 15, he moved to New Zealand on his own in order to follow his curiousity. In 1999 during his study for bachelor in product design in NZ, he moved to Paris for a scholarship study at ENSCI / Les Ateliers. After coming back from Paris, he received a gold prize in New Zealand’s national design award "NZ Best design award" under student category.

In 2003 he returned to Japan and since 2005 he has been a member and a designer at Naoto Fukasawa Design ltd.

After working at Fukasawa’s office in Tokyo for 7 years, Takeuchi moved to Milan where he decided to set up a satellite office for him in order to manage and to run his European and north american projects.

In 2014 Takeuchi started freelancing alongside his work for Fukasawa. During the same year, Takeuchi was selected by Giulio Cappellini as one of few upcoming designers and in 2015 Cappellini invited him to work on an installation project for an Italian natural stone company: Antolini at KBIS Las Vegas. After the success with this project, Cappellini kindly invited him again to participate in another project with Ceramica Flaminia for its 60th anniversary. Later in the year, Takeuchi established KEIJI TAKEUCHI SRLS. In 2016 he collaborated with Ambra Medda for Makers & Bakers exhibition during Milano Design week. During the same year, he received EDIDA Young Japanese talent award by Elle Decor Japan. In 2017 he acted as a Juror for Singapore Design Award.

Today Takeuchi is collaborating with various international brands such as Boffi, De Padova, Living Divani, Geiger/Hermanmiller, Antolini, Amorim, Henrytimi, and others.
